CloudLIMS.com, LLC develops and distributes laboratory informatics software systems, with a strong focus on cloud-based laboratory information management systems.
History
CloudLIMS.com was established in July 2013.[1] In roughly December 2014, the product name changed from CloudLIMS to BioTracer.[2] In later 2017 or early 2018, the company dropped the BioTracer name and renamed its sample management software to have name consistency with its LIMS product.
Technology and products
CloudLIMS and FreeLIMS
CloudLIMS Standard is web-based sample management software designed "for laboratories that have complex business processes, multiple users, and require advanced security features." CloudLIMS Standard is advertised as software that "simplifies your laboratory operations by managing, tracking and efficiently organizing samples and freezer locations at a very affordable price."[3]
CloudLIMS Enterprise is a laboratory information management system (LIMS) that "not only helps manage samples through their complete life cycle but also assists in managing complex laboratory operations."[4] It has the same features as the Standard version but also adds study management, request management, workflow management, and inventory management, among other features.[4][5]
The company also offers a scaled-down version of its CloudLIMS, as FreeLIMS. The software is advertised to work for small biobanking, cannabis, clinical, and food and beverage laboratories.[6] The software is limited to two users, one administrator and one user. It comes with "limits on available modules, functionality and on the number of records you are permitted to store in each module."[7]
