Frontier Science & Technology Research Foundation, Inc. (FSTRF) is a non-profit research foundation that advanced the use of data management techniques in science. The foundation also develops and maintains laboratory informatics software systems.

History

FSTRF was founded in 1975 "to advance the application of statistical science and practice and data management techniques in science, health care, and education."[1]

In 2001, a subsidiary Frontier Science Scotland Ltd. was incorporated. Two other subsidiaries were created in Europe later that decade: Frontier Southern Europe in 2005 and Frontier Science Foundation - Hellas in 2007.[2]

Technology and products

LDMS and HAWS

LDMS is a laboratory information management system "used by clinics and laboratories around the world to manage specimen tracking, inventory storage, specimen shipment, and much more."[3] The software can be installed locally on Windows or used as a web-hosted application.[4]

HAWS (HIV Algorithm Workflow System) "is an application for managing the workflow and data capture processes associated with HIV studies."[5] The software integrates with LDMS.
