Instrumental analysis or the determinative step, as defined by the United States Environmental Protection Agency via its SEDD Specification Version 5.2, "is where measurements are made for a list of analytes. Values such as instrument identification and date analyzed are reported in the analysis node. Analyte-specific values from this analysis are reported in analyte nodes under the analysis node."[1]
