Welcome to LIMSwiki.org, the laboratory, health, and science informatics encyclopedia.
Users have contributed: 1,603 articles.

LIMSwiki is a collaborative wiki dedicated to the scientific community, featuring organized, documented, and up-to-date content regarding all aspects of laboratory informatics, bioinformatics, and health informatics. LIMSwiki also strives to maintain relevant knowledge about laboratory equipment as well as commercial and open-source software likely to be used in a laboratory setting. This also includes the vendors of such equipment and software.

Like any community wiki, the value and success of LIMSwiki is dependent upon the scientific community contributing their vast knowledge through the creation of relevant articles and editing of existing articles where knowledge is absent. If you wish to enrich the content of this wiki or have something of value to add, please request an account and get started.

"Assessing cyberbiosecurity vulnerabilities and infrastructure resilience"

The convergence of advances in biotechnology with laboratory automation, access to data, and computational biology has democratized biotechnology and accelerated the development of new therapeutics. However, increased access to biotechnology in the digital age has also introduced additional security concerns and ultimately spawned the new discipline of cyberbiosecurity, which encompasses cybersecurity, cyber-physical security, and biosecurity considerations. With the emergence of this new discipline comes the need for a logical, repeatable, and shared approach for evaluating facility and system vulnerabilities to cyberbiosecurity threats. In this paper, we outline the foundation of an assessment framework for cyberbiosecurity, accounting for both security and resilience factors in the physical and cyber domains. This is a unique problem set, yet despite the complexity of the cyberbiosecurity field in terms of operations and governance, previous experience developing and implementing physical and cyber assessments applicable to a wide spectrum of critical infrastructure sectors provides a validated point of departure for a cyberbiosecurity assessment framework. We're happy to team up with the Association of Public Health Laboratories to highlight the existence of their new guide Laboratory Information Systems Project Management: A Guidebook for International Implementations. Released in November 2018, the guide collects comprehensive information from informaticians and laboratorians in regards to the implementation and project management of laboratory information systems (LIS) in the public health setting. With in-depth discussion and professional recommendations from contributors in multiple countries, this guide was created to provide valuable information for laboratory informatics newcomers and experienced laboratorians alike. Learn more about the guide here on the wiki.

This is just a quick update to advise readers the second edition of the guide Past, Present, and Future of Cannabis Laboratory Testing and Regulation in the United States has now been released. This second edition updates historical information with the latest stories through early December 2018, newest technologies, and revised URLs for vendors. A new chapter has been added that details vendors who are marketing their instruments, software, and equipment to cannabis testing laboratories, and new material has been added in addressing topics such as industrial hemp legalization and worker safety. Enjoy.
