On September 30, 2019, Francisco Partners Management LP announced its intent to acquire Orchard Software. At that time it was not clear how a successful acquisition would affect Orchard structurally, other than to say that a new CEO would be succeeding original founder and CEO Rob Bush.[1][2]

Orchard Sequoia is an enterprise-class LIS "designed with the needs of the ever-growing laboratory in mind, with a focus on scalability, flexibility, rules-based decision support, data analytics, and seamless integration."[4]
