Pennsylvania State University' (commonly referred to as Penn State or PSU) is a public, land-grant, research-intensive university located in University Park, Pennsylvania, United States, with additional campuses and facilities throughout Pennsylvania. Founded in 1855, the university has a stated threefold mission of teaching, research, and public service. Its instructional mission includes undergraduate, graduate, professional and continuing education offered through resident instruction and online delivery. The university enrolled more than 47,300 students, and it ranked 50 among national universities and 14 in "Top Public Schools" according to U.S. News & World Report's 2016 rankings.[1]
