University of Delaware (colloquially "UD" or "UDel") is a private research university located in Newark, Delaware, United States, with satellite campuses in Dover, Wilmington, Lewes, and Georgetown. As of Fall 2016, the university offered 140 bachelor's, 115 master's, 44 doctoral, and several associate's programs.[1] UD is classified as a research university with very high research activity by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.[2] The university enrolled more than 22,000 students, and it ranked 79 among national universities and 30 in "Top Public Schools" according to U.S. News & World Report's 2016 rankings.[3]
