University of Wisconsin – Madison (also known as University of Wisconsin, UW–Madison, or simply Madison) is a public research university in Madison, Wisconsin, United States. The university is organized into 24 schools and colleges offering more than 200 undergraduate and 250 graduate programs.[1] Madison is classified as a research university with very high research activity by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.[2] The university enrolled more than 43,000 students, and it ranked 44 among all national universities and 10 among "Top Public Schools" according to U.S. News & World Report's 2016 rankings.[3]
