The Reston Stable Isotope Laboratory "conducts research on the use of isotope ratio measurements in studies of water resources and environmental quality" for people inside and outside the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).[1] The laboratory also develops and offers cost-free several genre-specific laboratory informatics software products.

History

In September 2015, Los Gatos Research released an updated version of LIMS for Lasers, which acts as a "[f]ull client project and sample data management and reporting system" designed "for all off-axis (OA-ICOS) or cavity ring-down (CRDS) laser absorption spectrographs (LAS) used for δ2H, δ18O, and δ17O assays of liquid water samples" and includes a full users guide.[2]

Technology and products

LIMS for Lasers and LIMS for Light Stable Isotopes

LIMS for Lasers is a Microsoft Access-based laboratory information management system "for off-axis (OA-ICOS) and cavity ring-down (CRDS) laser absorption spectrometers (LAS) for δ2H, δ18O, and δ17O measurements of liquid water."[3]

LIMS for Light Stable Isotopes is a Microsoft Access-based LIMS "for both LAS and isotope-ratio mass spectrometers (IRMSs)" that "has proven useful in laboratories that receive samples from numerous individuals or perform at least a few thousand isotopic analyses per year."[3]

Pricing

The software and back-end databases are available for free through the laboratory.
