A handling batch, as defined by the United States Environmental Protection Agency via its SEDD Specification Version 5.2, is "an identifier that is used to link multiple samples that are handled together. 'Together' can imply similarity of time, place, and manner of handling." The EPA adds that "the definition of a handling batch depends on the method but might be linked to handling specific quality control (QC) samples."[1]
