Fig. 9 The five-dimensional digital twin concept (adapted from the work of Steindl et al.). Digital twins consist of a physical as well as a virtual entity, which are supported by several services. Data are fused and stored centralized. These four dimensions must be connected with each other, creating the fifth dimension.
