Datamine Software Ltd. provides services to and develops and distributes software solutions for the mining industry.
History
Datamine Software Ltd. was formally founded in January 1996.[1] Datamine was acquired by CAE, Inc. in April 2010 as an expansion of services into the mining industry.[2] However, in October 2015, CAE sold Datamine and its Datamine LIMS to Canada-based Constellation Software, Inc., citing a need "to concentrate our capital investment and management resources on our three core markets."[3] Datamine was then placed under the umbrella of Constellation Software's Vela Software International, Inc.[4][5]
In August 2019, Datamine announced that it had acquired the "intelligent mining solutions" (IMS) division of ABB Ltd., including its CCLAS laboratory information management system, which originally was created by Mincom Pty. Ltd. Datamine declared in its press release that "[a]ll [acquired] IMS products will continue to be actively developed and supported."[6]
It appears not long after the acquisition of ABB and its CCLAS LIMS offerings, the Datamine LIMS was quietly discontinued, with the web page and online brochure for the offering disappearing in the fall of 2019.
In May 2023, Datamine announced that it had acquired Assaynet Inc. Datamine justified the acquisition by saying, "Through this acquisition, Datamine is continuing to expand its portfolio comprised of the most comprehensive and sophisticated suite of solutions for mining operational needs."[7] Terms of the acquisition were not given, and it's not clear what will happen to Assaynet (merger, subsidiary, etc.).
Former technology
Datamine LIMS was a laboratory information management system (LIMS) that "facilitates workflow management by automating mine site laboratory processes."[8][9]
Technology and products
CCLAS
CCLAS is a laboratory information management system (LIMS) "that automates laboratory processes" and "offers superior quality control functions" for "mining companies, commercial testing, and wastewater laboratories."[10] The software can be installed locally on a Windows machine (as CCLAS EL[11]) or hosted in the cloud via the SaaS distribution model, as CCLAS 6[10]
The company has many other non-laboratory software options. Consult their website to learn more about them.
