A sample management vendor is an entity (business, company, corporation, etc.) which develops software that has the primary goal of assisting with sample/specimen management in the laboratory. The software may also include some functionality found in other laboratory informatics software, including that of a laboratory information management system (LIMS) or laboratory information system (LIS), but the software is marketed particularly as a sample management application and not a LIMS/LIS.
