University of Miami (informally referred to as UM, U of M, or The U) is a private, nonsectarian and non-profit research university in Coral Gables, Florida, United States. The university offers 116 undergraduate, 105 master's, and 63 doctoral degree programs, of which 59 are research/scholarship and four are professional areas of study.[1] UM is classified as a research university with very high research activity by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.[2] The university enrolled more than 16,800 students, and it ranked 44 among national universities and 27 in "Best Colleges for Veterans" according to U.S. News & World Report's 2016 rankings.[3]
