History

In May 2011, Accelrys, Inc. announced it had acquired Swedish developer Contur Software.[1] Accelrys stated the purchase of Contur and its ELN allowed Accelrys to offer an ELN option for smaller organizations.[2]

On July 19, 2011, Contur Software, allowed to work as a separate entity, announced it had changed the name of its ConturELN to iLabber "to give our customers a better and clearer overview of our offering."[3] This was a source of confusion, as Accelrys continued to refer to the product as "Contur ELN" on its website. (Though the company seemed to recognize this, in some of its documentation (PDF) referring to the software by both names.)

Contur Software existed as a subsidiary of Accelrys up until the acquisitions of Accelrys by Dassault Systèmes SA was completed on April 29, 2014.[4][5] With this acquisition, Contur was presumably absorbed into Dassault and no longer existed as a separate subsidiary.

Technology and products

Contur ELN/iLabber was a "user-friendly and flexible ELN system addressing the needs of [the] small and mid-size R&D organization."[6][4]
