Orchard Software Corporation develops and distributes clinical and laboratory informatics software solutions.

History

On September 30, 2019, Francisco Partners Management LP announced its intent to acquire Orchard Software. At that time it was not clear how a successful acquisition would affect Orchard structurally, other than to say that a new CEO would be succeeding original founder and CEO Rob Bush.[1][2]

Sometime in mid- to late 2021, Orchard Sequoia was renamed to Orchard Enterprise Lab[3] and Orchard Trellis was renamed to Orchard Point-of-Care.[4]

Technology and products

Orchard Harvest, Pathology, Enterprise Lab, and Point-of-Care

Orchard Harvest is a laboratory information system (LIS) "that maximizes process automation and decision-support technology to improve the efficiency of laboratory workflow, reduce errors, and increase the value of laboratory services to providers and patients."[5] The software can be installed locally or hosted in the cloud via the software as a service (SaaS) distribution method.

Orchard Pathology is an LIS-like solution for clinical and anatomical pathology "that offers the benefits of electronic record-keeping, rules-based decision-making, tools for improved patient safety, and result integration from all laboratory departments."[6] The software can be installed locally or hosted in the cloud via the SaaS distribution method.

Orchard Enterprise Lab (formerly Sequoia) is an enterprise-class LIS "designed to integrate and support high-volume, complex laboratories using aggregated patient data, advanced analytics, and workflow design to support laboratory stewardship."[7] The software can be installed locally or hosted in the cloud via the SaaS distribution method.

Orchard Point-of-Care (formerly Trellis) is a middleware-like solution that "offers centralized governance of a comprehensive point-of-care testing program across patient testing locations."[8] The software can be installed locally or hosted in the cloud via the SaaS distribution method.
