Krishagni Solutions Pvt. Ltd. develops and distributes clinical laboratory informatics software solutions.

History

Krishangi originally developed caTissue Plus, a free open-source biobanking LIMS/LIS heavily modeled after the National Cancer Institute's caLIMS product.[1] Krishagni also offered fee-based support services for the free software.

In late July 2014, Krishangi revealed OpenSpecimen v1.0 as a rewrite of caTissue Plus, with the rewrite tentatively set to be complete by March 2015. The company stated on their website: "caTissue is a 10 year old code base. The design and architecture is old technology-based, difficult to maintain and add new featured [sic] on top of it."[2]

Technology and products

OpenSpecimen

OpenSpecimen is an open-source biobanking LIMS/LIS based upon its previous offering NCI caTissue Plus. Both a free Community Edition and a priced Enterprise Edition of the software exist, with the various Pro versions including support, additional plug-ins, and remote hosting.[3]

The Community Edition is freely available and gives open source adopters the opportunity to download, install, evaluate, and use the software at no cost. Users can also view and modify the source code, attend training webinars, and listen in on end-user biweekly calls.

The Enterprise Edition is the same software as the Community Edition with support and additional plugins included for free. The Enterprise package also includes professional support and guarantees, additional features and capabilities, priority for bug fixes and enhancements, access to security patches, and remote server administration.

Pricing

The Community edition is free and open-source, available under the BSD 3-Clause License.[14][15]

A dedicated OpenSpecimen trial version is also offered for 30 days, which is configured according to the end users' needs. OpenSpecimen experts guide the end-user through the installation, setup, and training process.

Pricing for the Silver Enterprise version is $10,000, while the Gold Enterprise is $20,000.
